Statement:

I’m honored to be nominated to run for the Board member

of our own community organization – Chinese-American

Friendship Association (CAFA). I have lived in the RTP

area for over 12 years, and have witnessed the formation

and progress of this organization. As the leader of the

Chinese community in the RTP area, CAFA has served our

community in various ways. Having served the Raleigh Academy

of Chinese Language School for various positions, I treasure

the opportunity to be able to serve the larger community, to

make more friends, and to contribute to the continuous success

and growing of this prestigious organization.

 

Short Bio:

Daiwen Kang is a Physical Scientist at Computer Science

Corporation working in the air quality field for U.S.

EPA for over 7 years. He graduated from the Department

of Marine, Earth, and Atmospheric Sciences, North Carolina

State University with a PhD in Atmospheric Sciences and

a Master in computer science. Before coming to US, he was

an engineer at the Jinan Institute for Environmental Sciences.

He received his Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Ocean

University of China, Qingdao.

 

Daiwen has been actively involved in various community services.

He served Principal for Raleigh Academy of Chinese Language last

year, and vice principal the year before. He also served

president and vice-president of PTA for 2 years each at the

Raleigh Academy of Chinese Language School. He is a active member

of his Church.
