CAFA Spring Picnic Party

Dear Friends,

We will have our local Chinese community's annual picnic party / family fun day on Sunday, 4/27/2007 from 10am to 7pm. Please mark up your calendar and join us to have some fun. This year, the picnic party will be held at Lake Wheeler Park in Raleigh (6404 Lake Wheeler Road • Raleigh, NC 27603, 919-662-5704). The direction to the Park is at the end of this announcement.

You are encouraged to bring your own chairs, picnic tables, plastic and paper cloth, etc. Please drive slowly and carefully. Safety is always the most important thing for any of the CAFA activities.

Lunch will be served between 11:30am to 1:30pm (with a 30-minute turn over). Lunch boxes ($5/box) will be ordered from various local Chinese restaurants and will arrive between 11:30am and 12:30pm. Papa John's large pizzas will be ordered for kids ($1/big slice).

Various entertainment including big inflatables for picnic goers of all ages will be provided throughout the picnic. Local businesses and services catering to the special needs of our Chinese and Chinese American community will set up booths to help everyone at the picnic.

This year's CAFA spring picnic theme is REUNION. The picnic will be a gathering ground not only for CAFA members and friends, but also for all CAFA clubs and organizations. As a big family in a big reunion, we will catch up with each other while enjoying a casual meal and drink. You just let us know which college you graduated from and which province/city you were from, we will call your schoolmates or people from your region for you.

Everyone is invited! Your participation adds fun to the picnic. Please register at http://www.cafanc.org/events/register_picnic.html with the number of people in your party. This will help us to determine the amount of food we need to order. Please also indicate the clubs and groups that you'd like to visit during the picnic. When you arrive at the picnic, please come to the reception desk to pick up a free name tag to write your name, place of birth, and university or organization in China or USA that you came from.

CAFA Spring Picnic Preparation Committee

Directions: Using Interstate 40 in Raleigh as a reference point, take exit 297 [Lake Wheeler Road] and proceed south [away from Raleigh] . Stay on Lake Wheeler Rd, passing across Tryon Rd. Continue on Lake Wheeler Rd. and you will eventually pass flashing yellow lights at Simpkins Rd [which connects to Lake Wheeler Rd. on your left]. Continue on Lake Wheeler Rd. The park entrance will be on the right side. Lake Wheeler Park is approximately 4 1/2 miles from Interstate 40. Make a right into the front entrance of the park and stay on the long winding road to the waterfront. Lake Wheeler Park can only be accessed via Lake Wheeler Rd.
